Demystifying the Booking Process
Why The Vigil Project doesn’t have a ‘manager’
As a Catholic apostolate and a music group… we find that our work can easily be misunderstood. From the perspective of the music industry: if you’re a touring musician, you’ve got a manager. But those who have followed us for a while know that The Vigil Project doesn’t have a manager. We build every single tour, from East to West, entirely ourselves.
When you book an event, you talk with us: Greg, Andrea, Sophie, Andrew...we personally come alongside you to handle every detail from the planning to the marketing.
The Vigil Project puts our “music industry” work into the hands of our own musicians. Many of our touring colleagues who we respect tremendously do have managers, and their role is so very vital to the work of these artists and the music industry at large. We decided to have this role remain in-house. Why? Because it’s important to us that we build relationships with every event host to truly discern and understand how music can best serve their communities. We've seen beautiful fruit come from this, and we're grateful to have a team model that allows us to do it.
Over the years, people often wonder how they can bring The Vigil Project to their community, and are unsure of where to start. Let this article be your guide!
Step 1...
Whether you are a pastor, music director, conference planner, or simply someone in the pew who wants to make a difference… we invite you to get in touch with us. The first step to begin a conversation is to fill out a SURVEY, which simply collects your contact information and asks what prompted you to get in touch!
Many of our events, especially at parishes, happen simply because someone felt inspired to get in touch. Sometimes that’s a pastor looking to raise the bar of musical excellence in his parish. Sometimes that’s someone in the pew, who steps up to put their God-given fruits into action and sponsor an event at their parish. Sometimes that’s a music director who is looking to more deeply inform how music enhances prayer. Whatever your story is, there's a place for you in this process, and we can't wait to talk.
Step 2…
Over the course of the last seven years, The Vigil Project has toured hundreds of parishes primarily during the seasons of Advent and Lent. This coming year, we have expanded our offerings to include:
Step 3…
Once you've submitted a survey online, the booking process is already well underway! We make it as easy as possible to bring The Vigil Project to your community, and still tailor each event to truly best serve each unique and unrepeatable community. Our team – whom you'll meet in person at the event as well – has planned hundreds of these events at parishes, conferences, and colleges over the years. We'll guide you through it step-by-step, and help ensure you've got everything you need to create a beautiful, prayerful experience for your community. Here's what will happen next:
You'll hear from us first to discuss your community's unique needs, and get a contract in place. We listen to understand how your community prays, and what their needs are.
Once we have a date finalized, we'll work closely with you on our tech needs and travel logistics. Don't worry... we bring a lot of our gear with us, and can work with you to make it an easy experience.
We then help you spread the word about the event to make sure as many as possible can come pray with us. We'll send you customized posters, social media posts, and more.
Step 4…
Our favorite day is when we get to see you in-person after communicating closely over the time prior to the event. Depending on the date, we'll either arrive on a tour bus or will coordinate flights (you will know long ahead of time which, and the approximate timing of our arrival). We'll spend a few hours setting up our gear and making sure it all works. As you can imagine, every sound system is different and every space's acoustics are different. Be reassured: we've seen it all!
Once setup is underway, we'll also be sure to set up a merch table so your community can go home with CDs, sheet music, and resources to help support their prayer journey. After setup, we'll want to spend time with you: in prayer, in fellowship, in friendship. We love sharing a meal and hearing about the needs of the local Church.
We pray together, and the event begins...
