Musica Domestica, Coming from Word on Fire

We’ve been waiting a long time to start sharing about this project, and there’s no better time than now…. A few years ago, I (Andrew Goldstein) came home from my job as a parish music director, sat down at the piano with my kids, and realized, with some frustration, that I had no idea what to play. While it felt easy to lead a parish in song, it was immensely difficult to discern how to lead my home in the same way. I quickly realized that many families desire to pray with music, or sing at home together but similarly have no idea where to start. Now, years later, we’re blessed to announce the publishing of Musica Domestica with Word on Fire, a two-volume project co-written with authors Andrew Goldstein & David Clayton that leads the domestic church in sung prayer through hymns, chants, folk songs, praise songs, and the ancient practice of chanting the psalms with Gregorian tones. The Vigil Project & David Clayton recently recorded a host of video and audio resources to accompany the book release, making it easy and inspiring for families to come together to sing as part of their daily lives.

The book and recordings will be released in February 2027 just as the new translation of the Liturgy of the Hours begins in the public prayer of the Church, but you’re the first to know… share this email with your family and friends, and help spread the word!
